It is that time of year again, and all employers in the citrus industry are encouraged to submit their workplace skills plans and take part in the mandatory grant system. In doing so, you are eligible to get back 20% of the Skills Development Levy you pay simply by submitting your workplace skills plans and annual training reports.
Here's what you need to know:
1. What is the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR)?
A WSP is a plan of the training you intend to complete in the following year, for example from 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018.
An ATR is a report on actual training completed during the previous year, for example from 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017. Proof of the training completed, in the form of copies of invoices, certificates and attendance registers, must accompany the ATR.
2. Who must submit WSP and ATR?
All employers who pay more than R500,000 per year in salaries must be registered to pay Skills Development Levies (SDL), and all of them can submit WSPs and ATRs. If they do and fulfil all the requirements, the will get back 20% of the SDL that they paid.
3. What is the deadline for submission?
The WSP and ATR must be submitted to AgriSETA by no later than 30 April 2017.
4. How do you submit your WSP and ATR?
WSPs and ATRs are submitted via the AgriSETA online system, INDICIUM. Go to www.agriseta.co.za to learn more.
Employers are required to register a Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) who will complete and submit the reports on their behalf. Any individual can act as SDF, provided they have an appointment or confirmation letter from the organisation. For an example of an SDF appointment letter click here. The SDF creates, completes and submits the ATR and WSP with the required supporting documents.
