The Portfolio Committee of the DHET visited the Citrus Academy to get insight into the partnership project between AgriSETA and the Citrus Academy. The oversight visit forms part of the Committee's focus on the training and development of young people out of school. Bursary Fund students who have been part of the Academy's Graduate Placement Programme gave presentations.

Citrus Academy staff are active in promoting our services at various career and bursary fairs, symposia and industry-related events countrywide throughout the year.
We also acknowledge our bursary fund students through their involvement in internship programmes, vacation work, and team-building workshops, as well as recognising their achievements at graduation events, and award presentations.

The first session of the second Citrus Business Management Programme was held last week at Letaba Junction in Letsitele, Limpopo. Over the next eight months, emergent citrus growers and citrus farm managers will develop their entrepreneurial and management skills with the help of Zama Madikizela and Mpho Mazubane of Scientific Roets.
Jacomien de Klerk and Desiree Schonken of the Citrus Academy visited the Mariveni and Mabunda farms in the Limpopo Province.
Mabunda belongs to 25 growers and has about 300ha planted with valencias and grapefruit.
Mariveni belongs to 22 growers and has about 320ha citrus and bananas. They are planting more soft citrus at the moment, and will soon plant lemons as well.
