Citrus Secondary Programme

Learners at agricultural high schools in rural areas often do not get the opportunity to study at tertiary level, while they also struggle to find employment armed with only a matric certificate. In 2010, the Citrus Academy was asked to see if a programme could be developed to assist the learners to obtain an NQF-aligned qualification in Plant Production by the time they finish matric.

A programme was designed to be implemented as an extra-curricular activity, with practical activities performed during school holidays. A learner would participate in the programme for three years, preferably from grade 9 to 11, and obtain a National Certificate in Plant Production NQF 2 at the end of this period.

If you are interested in learning more about this programme, you can download the programme framework document here. Please feel free to contact us should you like to implement this programme at your school.
